DETAILS
ATTENTION!! Please follow below information.
1. Please check Error and Warning message in Event Viewer before you start the test case and after you complete the test case, and report it to your team lead, then arrange to open defect, if needed.

2. Perform All Test in Battery Mode (Some of the test items need to perform in AC Mode, follow each Test Case).

3. All Test Activity should be performed with AMT Enabled as Default (applicable on vPro enabled systems).

4. Please check Usability / Cosmetic issues (correct sentence/appropriate display/etc.) and open defect, if needed.

  1. In the BIOS setup, change the BIOS boot sequence as follows.
    1. IBA 4.0.22 Slot 0240
    2. Removable Devices
    3. CD-ROM drive
    4. Harddrive (with OS installed)
  2. Connect the network cable to Hub/switch connected to RDM server
  3. Boot the system and confirm that the system goes to PXE mode to connect to RDM server.
  4. It should connect to RDM DHCP server.
  5. Power OFF the system
  6. Remove the network cable from the system.
  7. Power ON the system again
  8. Confirm that the system boots the OS image from hard disk after PXE fails to connect to server.

2.Install and configure Remote Installation Service.
3.Authorize RIS Server in Active Directory.
Need a NTFS Partition other than system partition to store RIS images.
Create WXP Installation Image in RIS Server.
*Modify answer file to perform full unattended install.
And Add the latest Drivers for each NICs.
Procedure for adding SATA drivers [UR-1170DS]
(for applicable systems when SATA controller mode is in AHCI mode in BIOS setup)

- After uploading the OS image files to RIS , create a folder structure under windows as follows (\windows\$OEM$\textmode\) and copy all the SATA drivers in this location
- In the sif files (\i386\ristndrd.sif , \i386\rinorprt.sif & \i386\templates\ristndrd.sif)
add the following lines just above the unattended section

PXE Boot Test / LAN Device Name Verification Test - UR3991

Criteria
Procedure:
1. Configure Ethernet adapter to PXE LAN Cable.
2. Press F12 when Thinkpad logo screen shows.
3. Select PCI LAN for PXE boot
4. Turn off, and reboot machine.
5. Repeat step 3 - 6 for 10 times and observe if PCI LAN device name changes.
No error should occur during PXE boot

LAN device name should not change when restart after PXE boot

  1. Attach PXE LAN Cable to the ethernet port
  2. Press F1, and change boot option to Legacy only in BIOS.
  3. Restart sytem, and Press F12 when Thinkpad logo screen shows.
  4. Select PCI LAN for PXE boot
  5. Perform Preload MOPS download and note completion time.
  6. Reboot machine, Press F1 and change boot option to UEFI only.
  7. Repeat Step 5 - 7.
  8. Compare Legacy Boot against UEFI boot results.
No error should occur during PXE boot

There should be no difference in connection speed for UEFI & Legacy Boot

Procedure:
1. Setup a Windows Server with Windows Deployment Services.
1.a. Install Wireshark in the server.
1.b. Start Wireshark logging.
2. Connect Test Machine to Server using USB 2.0/3.0 Ethernet Adapter.
3. Boot Machine, Hit F1 to enter BIOS and change boot option.
4. Press F12 and boot to PCI LAN.
5. In Winshark logs, Check UUID in Bootstrap Protocol > Option (97) UUID/GUID-based client Identifier.
Test machine should get valid UUID during PXE boot
LAN Connection Test using Network Server w/ Endpoint Security

Procedure:
1. Turn on test machine, and boot to OS.
2. Attach Ethernet adapter to LAN port.
3. Connect test machine to Network Server w/ Endpoint Security (Symantec, Mcafee, etc.)

Power Management:
4. Suspend the system and resume after 1 minute.
5. Check Ethernet IP Address if changes.
6. Repeat step 4 - 5 for 10 times.
7. Hibernate the system and resume after 1 minute.
8. Check Ethernet IP Address if changes.
9. Repeat step 7 - 8 for 10 times.

Connect LAN cable and remove the cable before and after PM operations and confirm that no error message occurs and network is normal.
No BSOD/error should occur when connected to network server.





Ethernet Connection should not get APIPA address when resume from sleep/hibernate.
