ATTENTION!! Please follow below information.
1. Please check Error and Warning message in Event Viewer before you start the test case and after you complete the test case, and report it to your team lead, then arrange to open defect, if needed.

2. Perform All Test in Battery Mode (Some of the test items need to perform in AC Mode, follow each Test Case).

3. All Test Activity should be performed with AMT Enabled as Default (applicable on vPro enabled systems).

4. Please check Usability / Cosmetic issues (correct sentence/appropriate display/etc.) and open defect, if needed.

Please check the version of Access Connection / Hotkey to be used for each product. Access Connection / Hotkey may require specific version of device driver to be installed for the adapters to be tested.

Access Connections /Hotkey applications may have other functions/GUI not mentioned in this test case. Please verify all the available functions and GUI that comes with the supported version of Access Connections / Hotkey . Any updation required to the test case, Please inform Yamato Lenovo Engineer.

Known Limitations
Limitations -UR2431

In Windows 7 using Access Connections ver. 5.4 or later, Location profiles tab and link to launch Access Connections were removed. Only Wireless Radio tab will appear.

Also, option "Allow selection of location profiles with Fn+F5 On Screen Display menu" is no longer available in Fn+F5 Settings. (Access Connections 5.4 Design workbook ver 0.7 Date:5.20.2009)

Fn+F5 OSD still shows after press Fn+F6 hotkey. Still under investigation. (ECR111231, All:Fn+F5 OSD still keep aft press Fn+F6 hotkey FR:70%)

Restriction [UR-2296]

1. Find WiMAX feature will not be available in Fn+F5 On Screen Display window. This is as designed as per AC 5.10 Specs Addendum (Doc. # AC510-2-008).

Information

1. For Skylake platforms, the wireless radio switch located in Access Connections was removed as design.

Reference: ECR358854: Wireless radio switch is missing in the "Connect to the Internet" tab > WiFi in Access Connections

2. In Windows 7, "Master Control" label was changed to "Airplane Mode" label as design.

Reference: ECR229972: "Master Control" in Wireless Radio changed to "Airplane Mode"

Hotkey will vary based on the system type. Either Fn+F5 or F9 or other combination. Please check before starting the testing. Test case mentions FnF5 in general. Wherever FnF5 is mentioned, press the corresponding hotkey supported in that system.

Perform Hotkey verification test in all the supported model like Intel and AMD.

GUI Basic Verification with Access Connections Airplane Power Mode installed

1. With Access Connections

2. Confirm that two (2) tabs appear:

a. Location Profile

- In this tab, select any profile, apply and confirm connectivity success.

b. Wireless Radio

- In this tab, the following radios should show:

(a) Airplane Mode; (b) Wireless Radio; (c) Bluetooth <if supported config>; (d) Wireless WWAN <if supported config>

- Confirm the above radios working properly

- Confirm connectivity success

- Hotkey utility must open without any problem

- Selected location profiles applied correctly and working

- Airplane mode and other radios should work properly

GUI Settings Functionality Verification

1. Press on keyboard the supported Fn keys to launch Hotkey / OSD utility.

2. Click Settings button.

3. Verify all the functions available in the menu:

3.1 Show a menu that allows me to control power settings for wireless radios in my system.

a. Select the checkbox "Allow selection of location profiles with Fn+F5 On Screen Display menu."

b. Location Profile tab should show.

3.2 Alternate between powering off all wireless radios and powering on all radios.

a. A message will show "Do you want to power all wireless radios ON or power all wireless radios OFF?"

b. Click ON, All wireless radios should be ON.

c. Click OFF, All wireless radios should be OFF.

d. This message will appear only if there is more than one wireless radio in Hotkey.

- Confirm that Hotkey / OSD utility settings functions properly.

- WL Radio should be turned ON/OFF correctly based on the option chosen in Hotkey / OSD utility settings.

Choose "Alternate between powering off all wireless radios and powering on all radios", will be available not only for WLAN and WWAN. It will turn OFF Bluetooth also. This is working as design and same as old versions of Access Connections which supports Exclusive Radio Control.

Shortcut Keys Verification

Confirm that all the short keys are working fine.

1. Alt + L -> To go to Location Profile tab

2. Alt + I -> To go to Wireless Radio tab

3. Alt + N -> To open Access Connection

4. Alt + S -> To open Hotkey / OSD utility settings menu

5. Alt + C -> To close the Hotkey / OSD utility

6. Alt + F -> To launch find wireless network

7. Alt + A -> To Turn OFF all radio

8. Alt + P -> To Turn ON/OFF Wireless Radio

9 Alt + W -> To Turn ON/OFF Mobile WiMAX

Any other ALT+Key combination, verify the functionality

- All shortcut keys should work properly.

- No two actions for the same Alt+Key combination

4. The Access Connections Create New Profile window should appear.

5. Confirm location profile creation works fine.

1. Launch Access Connections.

2. Make sure Access Connections has no existing location profiles.

3.Log into the User mode.

4.. Press supported Fn to launch OSD, click on the Location Profile tab and click [Click to create a new location profile] option.

For Windows 7 using AC5.40 or higher:

Location Profile tab and link to launch Access Connections are removed. Only Wireless Radio tab will appear.

5. The Access Connections Create New Profile window should appear.

6.Only dial-up(modem or cellular phone) should be listed in the "Type of Network Connection"

7.Only Modem adapter and adapter status should be displayed in the "Choose the network adapter you want to use at this location"

6. Confirm modem location profile creation works fine and reflected in the Access connection

- No errors should appear.

- The Access Connections Create New Profile window should appear upon selecting the option: [Click to create a new location profile] on Hotkey / OSD utility and only modem adapter should be display in the "Choose the network adapter you want to use at this location" option.

4. The Access Connections create profile window should appear.

5. Again, launch OSD by pressing supported Fn keys and click on [Click to create a new location profile] option.

7. Go to Access Connections Main GUI and click on Location Tab>> Create New Profile

1. For Skylake platforms, the wireless radio switch located in Access Connections was removed as design.

2. In Windows 7, "Master Control" label was changed to "Airplane Mode" label as design.

Hotkey will vary based on the system type. Either Fn+F5 or F9 or other combination. Please check before starting the testing. Test case mentions FnF5 in general. Wherever FnF5 is mentioned, press the corresponding hotkey supported in that system.

a. A message will show "Do you want to power all wireless radios ON or power all wireless radios OFF?"

b. Click ON, All wireless radios should be ON.

d. This message will appear only if there is more than one wireless radio in Hotkey.

- Confirm that Hotkey / OSD utility settings functions properly.

- WL Radio should be turned ON/OFF correctly based on the option chosen in Hotkey / OSD utility settings.

Choose "Alternate between powering off all wireless radios and powering on all radios", will be available not only for WLAN and WWAN. It will turn OFF Bluetooth also. This is working as design and same as old versions of Access Connections which supports Exclusive Radio Control.

Confirm that all the short keys are working fine.

1. Alt + L -> To go to Location Profile tab

If multiple devices are present (Bluetooth, Wireless WAN):

f. Confirm that WWAN button is present.

g. Turn ON WWAN button.

j. Confirm that WWAN button is turned OFF.

2. When Airplane Mode / Software Switch is turned Off, the following message should show:

"All radios are Off. To use wireless radios. Please turn on master control above."

WL buttons should be turned ON/OFF correctly.

1. Confirm that On/Off buttons are present.

2. Turn OFF Bluetooth Radio
