ATTENTION!! Please follow below information.
1. Please check Error and Warning message in Event Viewer before you start the test case and after you complete the test case, and report it to your team lead, then arrange to open defect, if needed.

2. Perform All Test in Battery Mode (Some of the test items need to perform in AC Mode, follow each Test Case).

3. All Test Activity should be performed with AMT Enabled as Default (applicable on vPro enabled systems).

4. Please check Usability / Cosmetic issues (correct sentence/appropriate display/etc.) and open defect, if needed.

Silent Installation
1. Install Access Connection in silent mode. (setup -s -sms) [Refer build letter for silent installation procedure.

2. Confirm that the Access Connection is installed properly.
3. Please note that AC and Wireless driver dependency may be there and we may have to install the specific version of Access Connection and Wireless driver to work properly

Installation with Other applications
  1. Go to the directory where AC files are located
  2. Install Access Connection
  3. Confirm that the Access Connection works fine
  4. Install other applications like ThinkPad utility, Presentation Director and other applications like MS Office
  5. Confirm that the applications can be installed properly
  • No error on installation.
  • Checkboxes in Select Network Options window during installation should be available.
  • Confirm that the application launces properly.
  • Access Connection should be installed in silent mode without any problem.
  • Setup of other applications should run properly.
  • Both the Access Connection and other installed applications should work properly.

Installation Sequence for Access Connections and Wireless Adapter on Windows 7 [UR-2412] UR-2680AP
Wireless Adapter --> Access Connections

1. Install and configure wireless adapter.
2. Install Access Connections as per the build letter
3. After installation, AC will prompt to restart the system
4. After system restart, launch Access Connections from Start->Control Panel->Network and Internet-> "Lenovo's Internet Connection".
5. Confirm that the application launches properly

Via Command Prompt:
1. Install latest Wireless card driver & Restart the system.
2. Open Command prompt and go to the path where setupfiles for Access Connections are present (e.g. c:\77CN01US\) and input "Setup -" or "Setup /" and enter

Access Connections --> Wireless Adapter

1. Install Access Connections as per the build letter
2. After installation, AC will prompt to restart the system
3. Install and configure wireless adapter.
4. After system restart, launch Access Connections from Start->Control Panel->Network and Internet->"Lenovo's Internet Connection".
5. Confirm that the application launches properly

  • No error message during installation
  • After Installation, Desktop Icon for Access Connections should not appear on the screen.

  5. Uninstall Access Connections from Add/Remove programs by performing the scenarios below:
Access Connections Only

  2. In Windows 7, a window will prompt "Do you want to keep the Access Connections profiles and SMS messages/phone book?". Click "Yes".
  3. Confirm to proceed uninstallation
  4. Verify that the application is uninstalled properly

  6. Install Access Connections again
  7. Launch Access Connections from Start->Programs->ThinkVantage->Access Connections
  8. Confirm that the application launches properly and ALL the profiles created earlier are available.
  9. Launch Advanced-->Tools-->SMS
  10. Confirm AC-SMS Message Box launches
  11. Confirm that ALL SMS Messages sent and received earlier are available

Profiles and SMS messages / phonebook - UR-2793
  1. In XP, select option "Uninstall ThinkVantage Access Connections, location profiles and sms messages/phone?

  3. Confirm to proceed uninstallation

13. Connect to wifi and save the profile
14. From Add/Remove programs, uninstall AC
15. When the message "Do you want to keep the Access Connections profiles
and SMS messages/phone book?" appears, leave the system idle for 5-10 minutes.

Win XP
13. Connect to wifi and save the profile
14. From Add/Remove programs, uninstall AC
15. Proceed to uninstallation process but do not click the finish button, leave the system idle for 5-10 minutes

AC and Profiles with Japanese Profile Name

1. Install Access Connections.
2. Install Japanese keyboard on the Regional Settings and Languages, restart.
3. Create and apply any profile with its name in Japanese character ex. ???

4. Uninstall Access Connections from Add/Remove programs
5.Select "Uninstall ThinkVantage Access Connections and location profiles" option then restart.
6. After restart, install Access Connections again.
7. Launch Access Connections.
8. Confirm that the application launches properly and NO profiles are available.

  • In US and JP OS, confirm all option wordings are not truncated upon uninstallation

Hidden AC profiles during upgrade [LL-1308]
- Install previous version of AC [or web version]
- Create multiple profiles of Ethernet, Wireless, WWAN
- Go to Location profile
- Uncheck the box available before the profile name for all the created profiles. This will hide from the drop down menu
- Perform upgrade installation of latest AC.
- Confirm that the hidden profiles created earlier are still available after upgradation
- Enable the check box to unhide the profiles.
- Connect each profiles and confirm the successful profile connection.

    1.Launch Access connection.
