ATTENTION!! Please follow below information.
1. Please check Error and Warning message in Event Viewer before you start the test case and after you complete the test case, and report it to your team lead, then arrange to open defect, if needed.

2. Perform All Test in Battery Mode (Some of the test items need to perform in AC Mode, follow each Test Case).

3. All Test Activity should be performed with AMT Enabled as Default (applicable on vPro enabled systems).

4. Please check Usability / Cosmetic issues (correct sentence/appropriate display/etc.) and open defect, if needed.

1. When Administrator function is enabled by Administrator tool, “Create Distribution Package” and “Edit Distribution Package” functions become available. When “Create Distribution Package” menu is launched for (.LOA file) creation, if user selects one of the wireless profile, Edit Profile Wireless Settings tab menu is launched. At that time, Help menu is not possible to display because the help file availability is not assured in administrator environment and grayed out. (cf. 95552, 95553)

2. If the profile is imported in the same system as it was created, notice that after importing the profile, the original and imported profiles will be available in Location Switching.
But when Create Distribution Package is clicked, notice that there is original profiles present.

3.In case of WPA-PSK profiles, the imported profile appears on Tools--> Location Switching after it is connected or if its created with password.

Un-Installation
  • Install Access Connection
    1. Confirm that the Profile Distribution menu is available in Access Connection.
    2. Close Access Connection.
    3. Launch the Enabler for Administrator Feature program (adminenabler-AC4.exe). (attached above).
    4. Pop up screen will appear and select 'Disable Administrator feature'
    5. Click Exit button.
    6. Open Access Connection
    7. Confirm now the there is no of Profile Distribution menu in Access Connection.
    • No profile distribution menu in the AC main screen.
    • No features/menu to have IT admin facilities.
    • No error message while disabling the tool.
    • No side effect/system malfunction after the removal of IT admin tool.

    Note:

    • If you uninstall Access Connection, IT admin tool also is removed. If you install Access Connection, after uninstalling the AC, then IT admin tool needs to be installed again.
    • When we do the over write/update installation of Access Connection, no need to install IT admin tool.

    IT Admin Tool - Profile Distribution

    Note :

    To create the profile distribution, profiles should be created using the Access Connections. Use the Location Profiles menu to create profiles.

    For Wireless LAN profiles, you will be prompted to re-enter the wireless security settings for confirmation.

    1. From the "Profile Distribution" menu, click on "Create Distribution Package..." .
    2. Select the profiles from the list to create the distribution package.
    3. In the User Access Policy, Select the desired option.
    Click the create button.
    4. You will be prompted for Passphrase. Enter the passpharase.
    5. Save the file (it will be saved as .loa file)
    6. Copy this .loa file to another client system
    7. In the client system, from Access Connection->Import Location profiles, import the latest saved .loa profile. (you will be prompted to enter the passphrase again, Enter the wrong passphrase.
    8.AC warning message dialog box appears with the following message "Unable to import file.Incorrect passphrase or corrupted file."
    9.Correct AC warning message should appears.

    9.Profile should not be imported with the wrong passphrase.
    10.Also try passphrase with the correct passphrase for first 4 digits and wrong passphrase for remaining digits (for example, if correct passphrase is 12345 , try to import with passphrase of 12346)

    12.Similarly try combinations of correct and wrong passphrase combined together .In each case, profile should not be imported

    Note:

    Profile Creation w/ Automatic Location Profile data [UR-1687AP]
    1. Launch Access Connections and Click Configure-> Location Switching..
    2. Automatic Location Switching Window will appear. Notice that there are three checkbox:
    - Enable Automatic Location Switching
    - Include Ethernet connections in automatic switching and prompt me to save Ethernet ports.
    - When no other connections are available, connect through wireless WAN (this option is enabled only when WWAN is configured and a WWAN profile is created on the system)

    3. Checked/Unchecked the options as desired. Note the selected options and click OK.
    4. From the "Profile Distribution" menu, click on "Create Distribution Package..." .
    5. Select the profiles from the list to create the distribution package.
    6. In the User Access Policy, Select the desired option.
    7. Click the create button.
    8. You will be prompted for Passphrase. Enter any passpharase.
    9. Save the file (it will be saved as .loa file)
    10. Copy this .loa file to another client system
    11. In the client system, from Access
    Connection->Import Location profiles, import the latest saved .loa profile. .
    12. Confirm that the profile is imported properly.
    13. On Access Connections Main GUI, go to Configure->Location Switching..
    14. Automatic Location Switching will be launched, verify if the selected checked box option at the time creating the distribution package is included into the package after import.

    EXPECTED: The three checkboxes are included as part of the distribution package by default (without any explicit option). The selection of the checkboxes at the time of creating the distribution package is included into the package.

    Note: W7 - 32bit has no "Enable Automatic Location Switching" -> (CMVC #81596 VIS: AC4.3:Enabled Automatic Loc Switching chkbox missing)

    Editing Distribution Package

    1. From the "Profile Distribution" menu, click on "Edit Distribution Package..."
    2. select the Profile Distribution files (*.loa) to edit and you will be prompted for passphrase.
    3. Select the profile that needs to be modified.
    4. Modify the properties and save this profile.
    5. Copy the modified .loa file to another client system
    6. In the client system, from Access Connection->Import Location profiles, import the latest saved .loa profile. .
    7. Confirm that the profile is imported properly.
    8. Apply the imported profile
    • Profile distribution package should be able to modify
    • Import the modified profile in client system successfully

    Verifying Add/Delete MAC address with Ethernet Profile [UR-2249DS]
    1.Launch AC --> Create and apply ethernet profile and make sure profile connection is successfull
    2.Enable IT Admin enabler -->Click "create distribution package".

    3.Create Distribution package window launches.
    3.Select the checkbox of the ethernet profile.Add/Delete MAC address gets enabled under associated MAC addresses
    4.Click on Add/ Delete tab . Add/ Delete MAC address window launches.
    5.Choose 'Add' to add any MAC address in the imported profile or choose 'Delete' to exclude MAC address in the imported profile & Close

    6.Click the create button.
    4. You will be prompted for Passphrase. Enter the passpharase.
    5. Save the file (it will be saved as .loa file)
    6. Copy this .loa file to another client system
    7. In the client system, from Access Connection->Import Location profiles, import the latest saved .loa profile. (you will be prompted to enter the passphrase again)
    8. Confirm that the profile is imported properly.

    10. Confirm if the Add/ Delete MAC address option is applied properly by checking from Automatic Location switching-->Edit Saved ports.

    Verifying Create distribution package with Wireless Profile [UR-2051]1.Launch AC --> Create and apply any 802.1x Wireless profile and make sure profile connection successfull
    2.Enable IT Admin enabler -->Click "create distribution package".

    3.Create Distribution package window launches.
    3.Select the checkbox of any wep,no wep,wpapsk and 802.1x wireless profile.Wireless settings window will launch
    4.Click on wireless security type properties-->Properties window launches.
    5.Exit the "wireless setting window" and " create distribution package" window without making any changes and without saving the profile.

    Verifying Wireless Encryption [UR-1783DS]
    1) Recover preload image in a system with a wireless adapter
    2) Install latest wireless driver
    3) Install Access Connection
    4) Create and apply an Wireless Security profile
    5) Launch profile distrubution window and select the profile to be exported
    6) Upon selection , the profile edit window appears
    7) Click the WL security type "properties" and check if correct encryption is set.

    Verify Location Switching Information For W7 - 32bit
    1) Create and apply an WEP/WPA-PSK Wireless Security profile
    2) Launch profile distrubution window and select the profile to be exported
    3) Upon selection , the profile edit window appears
    4) Click the WL security type "properties" and do not enter the credentials. Leave it blank.
    5) Export and Import the profile.
    6) The Imported WEP/WPA-PSK profile should not be present in the location switching.

    Preferred WLAN Information
    1. Launch Access Connections and Click Configure-> Location Switching..

    3. Check Preferred WLAN profile with a selected profile.Click OK.
    4. From the "Profile Distribution" menu, click on "Create Distribution Package..." .
    5. Select the profiles from the list to create the distribution package.

    2) Create Distribution Package (w/o passphrase) by following the steps 1~5 mentioned in the "Profile Creation w/o Passphrase" procedure. (e.g: RODNEY.loa)
    3) Copy the .loa file to "C:\Program Files\ThinkPad\ConnectUtilities" folder in the client system (no .sig file is created as we did not enter a password).
    4) Shutdown and restart system.
    5) Login as Limited User.
    6) Make sure that no error message appears and the profile is imported properly.

    IT Admin Tool - Client configuration Policy [UR-2292DS] - UR2532

    Note:

    Make sure that when testing in JP OS, there is no English characters in any Policy Options.

    Also ensure that there is no missing options in any OS.

    Adminstrator Privileges If the option 'Do not allow clients to become an Access Connection Adminsratior' is selected Even if the Admin enabler program is installed in the client system, with this option, the applied profile cannot work in admin mode and it will have user mode privilages only.
    Client system will not be able to create the profile distribution package.
    Global Settings If Include Currently Configured Global settings option selected. In the client system, only the global settings mentioned here should be effective.
    Client system should have only those properties mentioned here. If anything else, do report.
    If Include Currently Configured Global settings and Do not allow clients to change global settings option is selected Client system cannot change any of the global settings.
    Location Profiles - If "Do not allow clients to import location profiles unlesss included in a dirstribution package" is selected This should prevent client system to import profiles from other sources..
    - If "Do not allow clients to export location profiles" option is selected This should prevent users to export any location profiles. Pls. check the export location profile option from the Manage location profile menu.
    - If "Do not allow clients to create location profiles" option is selected This should prevent users from creating any kind of profiles in Access Connection
    -If "Allow Windows users without administrator privileges to create and apply WLAN/WiMAX location profiles using Find Wireless Network Function" is selected This should allow users without administrator privileges to create and apply WLAN/WiMAX profiles from Find Wireless
    -If "Disable automatic profile creation" is selected This should prevent users from creating automatic profiles.

    Disable automatic profile creation policy means , After AC installed, AC creates default profiles for WAN, etc depending on SIM and adapters available. This happens without any user interaction.

    When the user click on WiFi, Mobile Broadband, WiMAX, Other Connections, this is not an automatic profile as profile is created without user interaction.

    Connectivity Options If "Disable automatic location profile switching feature" option is selected

    1. Install Access Connection
    2. Create 3 -4 profiles, make sure you add all profiles to location switching
    3. Install Admin tool
    4. Create a deployment package and select the option "Do not allow clients to change automatic location switching settings"
    5. Deploy this package to another system
    6. Verify that you have the deployed profile.
    7. Switch to Advanced Mode--> Tools tab

    8. Click "Location Switching" button
    Automatic location profile switching option should not work in the client system

    Message: "Automatic location switching is disabled by the administrator"

    If 'Enable roaming and don not display a warning prompt' is selected Client system should be able to connect to roaming SIM card without prompting any warning message to the user.
    If 'Disable roaming' is selected Client system is not allow to connect to roaming SIM card.

    1. From the "Profile Distribution" menu, click on "Create Distribution Package..." .
    2. Select the profiles from the list to create the distribution package.
    3. In the User Access Policy, Select Deny all changes setting.Click the create button.
    4. You will be prompted for Passphrase. Enter the passpharase.
    5. Save the file (it will be saved as .loa file)
    6. Copy this .loa file to another client system
    7. In the client system, from Access Connection->Import Location profiles, import the latest saved .loa profile. (you will be prompted to enter the passphrase).
    8. Import the profile with correct passphrase.
    9. Confirm that the profile is imported properly.
    10. Click Manage >> Profile Action >> Create.
    11. In the name of Location Profile, enter the same profile name as previously created.
    A message ("The location profile name you have chosen already exists. Enter a different name") should be seen.
    12. Verify this function by changing all the available User Access Policies in Step.3

    Reference CMVC: 74339:XP/2K: Profile overwrite even w/ deny changes option in IT Admin
    • Profile distribution package should be able to create
    • Import the profile in client system successfully
    • Applied imported profile should work fine without any problem.
    • In the client system, user access policy mentioned in Step.3 should be applied.
    • The administrator should not be able to overwrite the imported profile with deny all changes setting.
