About the AT command for Sierra MC77xx for Cold/Warm fix test, here is a command.
----------
Clear specific GPS assistance data
Clear one or more types of assistance data from the modem. This forces a cold start
for GPS acquisition the next time a session starts.
The command is only available when there is no active GPS session—the GPS
receiver is off and no position fix is being calculated.
This command is equivalent to !GPSCOLDSTART when all four parameters are set
to ‘1’.
Usage:
• Execution: AT!GPSCLRASSIST=<eph>, <alm>, <pos>, <time>, <iono>

DETAILS
ATTENTION!! Please follow below information.
1. Please check Error and Warning message in Event Viewer before you start the test case and after you complete the test case, and report it to your team lead, then arrange to open defect, if needed.

2. Perform All Test in Battery Mode (Some of the test items need to perform in AC Mode, follow each Test Case).

3. All Test Activity should be performed with AMT Enabled as Default (applicable on vPro enabled systems).

4. Please check Usability / Cosmetic issues (correct sentence/appropriate display/etc.) and open defect, if needed.

Note :
-Preload condition : No GPS Enabler installed => Need to perform the test without GPS Enabler application with the applications available (since driver already supports auto tracking)
- Web condition : Need to install GPS enabler and perform the testing as usual.



Known Limitations/Restriction/Information
Known Limitations
1. XTRA data failed to be downloaded in MC7770 using ThinkVantage GPS. The API ForceXTRADownload would return success but GetXTRAValidity API shows that there was no XTRA data downloaded.

2. GPS is acquiring speed even when tracking on stationary mode
Ref: ECR111625, GPS Enabler is acquiring speed while stationary with Eric H5321gw
Restriction
Information
1. GPS 2.80 supports for Sierra MC7770 and Ericsson H5321gw, Bing Maps API v7.0
2. In GPS 2.80, GPS Mode option is removed based on TVT SW Function Spec: TVT GPS v2.80, pages 3 and 6.

Uninstallation

2. Go to Add/Remove Programs (or equivalent, depends on the OS).
3. Select TVT GPS and uninstall.
- No error message should appear during or after uninstallation.
- TVT GPS components should be uninstalled completely.
Overwrite/Upgrade Installation
0. Configure system with WWAN adapter.
1. Boot to OS. Login to Administrator account.
2. Install TVT GPS as per build letter.
3. Confirm TVT GPS was installed successfully.
4. Again install the same build of TVT GPS .
5. Installshield Wizard - Program Maintenance should be shown with the following options: Modify, Repair, Remove.
- No error message should appear during or after installation.
- Confirm all Program Maintenance options works as expected: Modify, Repair, Remove.
- Confirm application launches without errors.
User Mode
Perform Installation, Uninstallation, Overwrite and Upgrade installation as mentioned above for TVT GPS with in User account with and without Administrator privilege.
- No error message should appear during or after installation with Admin privilege.
- Confirm application launches without errors.
- User should not be able to Install or Uninstall without Admin privilege.

Close [X] Function of GPS Main GUI
When Tracking is Started

1. Launch TVT GPS .
2. Click on the Start button to begin Real Time Tracking.
3. Confirm system obtains satellite fix successfully.
4. Click the Close [X] button.
5. GPS Main GUI should minimize on the task tray.

When Tracking is not Started

1. Launch TVT GPS
2. Click the Close [X] button.
3. GPS Main GUI should close.
- No error message should appear after launching TVT GPS .
- No error message should appear after pressing the Close [X] button.
- Confirm Close [X] button function should work as expected.

GPS Modes
1. Select the each of the following modes and confirm it"s functionality:
- Standard: default option
- EXTRA: time of the satellite fix can be much faster than standard GPS, especially until the latest satellite data is not stored in WAN card.
- A-GPS: By downloading assistance data from A-GPS servers which mobile broadband carriers operate, time of the satellite fix can be much faster than standard GPS. The accuracy of the satellite fix by A-GPS is better than EXTRA

Note: In GPS 2.80, GPS Mode option is removed based on TVT SW Function Spec: TVT GPS v2.80, pages 3 and 6.

GPS 2.70 : [UR-2855]

XTRA? can be selected for Gobi 2000 / 3000. If ?XTRA? is selected, ?Details? button becomes enabled and users can configure XTRA settings.

"A-GPS" appears when setting A-GPS value to "1" in the registry. (A-GPS is not formally supported)

GPS 2.80 :

GPS Mode: EXTRA >> Details

Details for XTRA

If ?XTRA? is selected in GPS Mode setting, the following dialog window appears by selecting ?Details? button.



1. Confirm the functionality of the following settings for EXTRA mode:
- Download Interval Time: determines interval time (hours) between XTRA downloads. The default value depends on WWAN card (range 1-999).
- Network Preference: sets the XTRA WWAN network preference. When automatic XTRA database downloading is enabled this preference determines which WWAN networks will be used to perform the XTRA database download. Options to be set are ?Any network?, ?Home only? and ?Roam only?.
- Download EXTRA data: forces the EXTRA database to be downloaded to the device when users want to use EXTRA data without waiting interval time.


Known Carrier:
The carriers registered in the WAN pre-defined profile (AC_wanprofiles.xml) are shown and if a carrier is selected, the corresponding Carrier name, APN, Authentication, User name and Password are automatically input.

Authentication, APN, User name, Password:
These settings are required to establish network with HSPA / UMTS carriers. Authentication can be selected from PAP and CHAP. If SIM for HSPA is removed, these setting are disabled

Validity Period of XTRA data:
?Starting Date? shows the starting date of validity period for downloaded assistant data and ?Validity Period? shows the validity period. When data is downloaded, data is not updated automatically. So, by selecting ?Refresh? button, these data is refreshed. These data cannot be shown when tracking is not started by XTRA mode.
- Confirm the following functions are available only for EXTRA mode.
- Confirm no system degredation occurs after setting the options.

Fix Interval Time
1. Confirm the functionality works as described:
This setting determines interval time (sec) to fix satellite. The default is 3 seconds (range 1-99).

Units of Speed
1. Confirm the functionality works as described:
This option determines units of speed which is shown in GPS Enabler. Selectable values are mph (default), km/h, Knots.

Auto Tracking
1. Confirm the functionality works as described:
When GPS applications open Gobi 2000 NMEA COM port, GPS tracking starts automatically.

Show Warning
Confirm the functionality works as described:
1. When show warning is checked and you try to close [X] the GPS window while tracking started it should prompt a message like below.

Using Hyper Terminal
HyperTerminal is available by default in Windows XP. For other OS, you can use the file attached in the reference section.


To create a test tool that can open GPS COM Port, do the following:


1. In a preloaded Gobi2k Windows XP machine, click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Communications -> HyperTerminal.

2. If this isn"t the first time you opened HyperTerminal, go to Step 3.
If this is the first time you opened HyperTerminal, input Location Information. Click OK.
When Phone and Modem Options window opens, click OK.

3. You can now create new connection. Enter test tool name. Click OK.

4. Select the correct GPS COM Port in the Connect Using drop-down button.

5. GPS COM Port Properties window will open. Change Bits per second to 4800. Click OK.

6. Your test tool is now ready.

If Enable Auto Tracking is checked, NMEA Data will appear in your test tool after it is created. If Enable Auto Tracking is not checked, NMEA Data will not appear in your test tool after it is created.

Make sure to save your test tool so that you can open and close it anytime. To open it again, click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Communications -> HyperTerminal -> test tool name.
  • Make sure that there is no Error message when setting up the Hyperterminal connection.
  • Make sure that Auto tracking function works corresponding to the setting in GPSE.
  • If Auto tracking is enabled, Tracking should start automatically and data will be shown in Hyperterminal upon launch.
  • If Auto Tracking is disabled, GPS Data should not be shown in Hyperterminal upon launch.

Using GPS-NMEA Monitor
1. Download GPS-NMEA Monitor from

2. Enable the Auto Tracking settings in GPSE Option.

3. Launch GPS-NMEA Monitor and set the COM Port Accordingly.

4. Observe if Auto Tracking is started.
  • Make sure that Auto tracking function works corresponding to the setting in GPSE.
  • If Auto tracking is enabled, Tracking should start automatically and data will be shown in GPS-NMEA Monitor GUI upon launch.
  • If Auto Tracking is disabled, GPS Data should not be shown in GPS-NMEA Monitor GUI upon launch.

ThinkVantage Maps

Launching TVT Maps and correct GPS positioning
From TVT GPS Application:

1. Launch ThinkVantage GPS and connect to GPS satellite.
2. Confirm successful connection.
3. On ThinkVantage GPS Main GUI, click on ThinkVantage Maps button.
4. Confirm the ThinkVantage Maps application launches successfully without errors and shows the current location of the User.
5. On ThinkVantage GPS Main GUI, select a GPS application ThinkVantage Maps from the drop-down list box and click again [Launch].
6. Confirm that only one ThinkVantage Maps window should launch and shows the current location of the User.

From Control Panel:

7. Confirm successful connection.
8. Go to Control Panel > System and Security OR go to Control Panel > Network and Internet.
9. Under Lenovo"s GPS, click Open ThinkVantage Maps.
10. Confirm the ThinkVantage Maps application launches successfully without errors and shows the current location of the User.
- Confirm ThinkVantage Maps can be launched without errors.
- Confirm current location is shown on ThinkVantage Maps.
Launching TVT Maps without internet connection
From TVT GPS Application:

1. Install ThinkVantage GPS
2. Without internet connection launch TVT GPS application.
3. Start satellite tracking.
4. After getting satellite fix, launch ThinkVantage Maps from GPS application.
5. ThinkVantage Maps should launch successfully.

From Control Panel:

6. Install ThinkVantage GPS
7. Without internet connection, go to Control Panel > System and Security OR go to Control Panel > Network and Internet.
8. Under Lenovo"s GPS, click Launch ThinkVantage Maps link.
9. ThinkVantage Maps should launch successfully.
- ThinkVantage Maps should launch without errors
- The following message should not appear. "The system is not connected to the internet. Please make sure you are connected to internet and then launch the online maps application"
- "No network" information" should be shown on the taskbar.
Changing between Google maps and Bing maps [UR-2505]
1. Launch ThinkVantage GPS 2.5 and start tracking to get the satellite fix
2. Confirm Fix is obtained.
3. On ThinkVantage GPS Main GUI, click on ThinkVantage Maps button.
4. Confirm the ThinkVantage Maps application launches successfully without errors and shows the current location of the User.

5. Press ALT + M to change between Google and Bing maps
6. Make sure that Bing maps loads successfully without errors and shows the correct location on the map.


Options Setting


The Options dialog is opened from the system menu in ThinkVantage Maps. Map Style has 2 options of Google Maps and Bing Maps and user can switch map style of ThinkVantage Maps. Google Maps is default. The location (latitude / longitude) in the map is updated by the time that is defined in MAP Refresh Time (default: 5 sec). The map (html file) is refreshed by Refresh menu or F5 key. Enable SIM security ( Note: When GPS is launched after Shutdown/Restart , click "START" to get the PIN window if PIN is enabled. )
1. Boot OS with activated SIM, WWAN adapter, GPS and Access Connection installed
2. Launch AC and Switch to Advance Mode. Goto Tools---> Mobile Broadband----> SIM ---> Enable SIM Security.
3. Confirm Enable SIM Security window appears successfully.
4. Input correct PIN. Click OK.
Unlock SIM (with correct PIN)
1. With SIM PIN enabled. Boot the system to OS.
2. Launch GPS. The following message would appear:
The SIM card is locked. Enter PIN to unlock.
3. Enter the correct PIN information and click OK.
4. Confirm GPS application launches properly and does not hang.
Unlock SIM (with incorrect PIN)
1. With SIM PIN enabled. Boot the system to OS.
2. Launch GPS. The following message would appear:
The SIM card is locked. Enter PIN to unlock.
3. Enter the incorrect PIN information and click OK.
4. Confirm the following message was shown:
Your PIN was not valid. Please enter correct PIN.
5. Also confirm the number of trials remaining. 3 trials is the maximum number of trials the User is allowed upon entering incorrect PIN information.
Block SIM
1. With SIM PIN enabled. Boot the system to OS.
2. Launch GPS. The following message would appear:
The SIM card is locked. Enter PIN to unlock.
3. Enter the incorrect PIN information and click OK.
4. Confirm the following message was shown:
Your PIN was not valid. Please enter correct PIN.
5. Repeat steps 3-4 for 2 more times.
6. Modify SIM Security window should be shown with the following message:
SIM card is blocked. Enter PUK to Unblock.
Unblock SIM (with correct PUK)
1. With SIM card blocked. Boot the system to OS.
2. Launch GPS. Modify SIM Security window should be shown with the following message:
SIM card is blocked. Enter PUK to Unblock.
4. Enter the correct PUK information, new PIN code and click OK.
5. Confirm GPS application launches properly and does not hang.

Note :If OS is Win7 and user privilege is not administrator mode, unblock function of Mobile Broadband API cannot work as API spec. So, the following indication message is shown so that users can unblock SIM.
"SIM card is blocked. To unblock SIM card, please run TvGpsApp.exe (in ThinkVantage GPS install folder) as administrator and click Start button to open Unblock SIM Card window."

Unblock SIM (with incorrect PUK)
1. With SIM card blocked. Boot the system to OS.
2. Launch GPS. Modify SIM Security window should be shown with the following message:
SIM card is blocked. Enter PUK to Unblock.
3. Enter the incorrect PUK information and click OK.

GPS Navigation Test
- Need to travel by Car or Train with the speed of 50Km or above for Navigation function test.

- No application crash to be noted throughout the testing.

- Need to perform this test if any major rework is done / image or driver is changed.

- Both Fix and Navigation test to be performed on 2 different days.-Test to be performed for 2 days in the same location to get the data for comparison.

Step 1 > Flash Image to system with Ericson / Gobi - wwan adapters + SIM

>> Ensure that Internet connection is established using the SIM.
Step 2 > Launch GPS Enabler application and click to start the tracking.

Step 3> Ensure that the satelitte fix is obtained as per the criteria mentioned above.
Step 4> Once we get the smooth satelitte fix, confirm the current location is in Google Map, and then start moving in a car / train with the speed of 50Km or above.
Step 5 > Real time tracking started, make sure no jump is seen.


Navigation needs to be monitored for 20minutes.

Need to test this function using :
1. Bing Maps
2. Google Maps

Also using any of the following Navigation application
- Google

- Super Maple [in Japan]
- MS Autostreet [US / Europe]
- Popular application in the place of testing like Taiwan / China / Singapore / Phillipines.

This navigation test needs to be tested by using car / high speed train.


IMPORTANT :
If your test results are not meeting the criteria, inform full details to Yamato team before opening the defect. Yamato NW team will confirm with the development and defect should be opened based on Yamato NW team"s advise.
  • Tracking on the map should be smooth, and no jump on the map.
  • The navigation pointer should move smoothly without any stuck or no noticable jump.
  • Mention the No.of Sateillite in View and No. of satelitte fix got.
  • Mention the time to get the first satelitte fix.
