Objective:To verify all the WWAN functions as part of the supported Country field test

About the AT command for Sierra MC77xx for Cold/Warm fix test, here is a command.
----------
Clear specific GPS assistance data
Clear one or more types of assistance data from the modem. This forces a cold start
for GPS acquisition the next time a session starts.
The command is only available when there is no active GPS session—the GPS
receiver is off and no position fix is being calculated.
This command is equivalent to !GPSCOLDSTART when all four parameters are set
to ‘1’.
Usage:
• Execution: AT!GPSCLRASSIST=<eph>, <alm>, <pos>, <time>, <iono>

DETAILS
ATTENTION!! Please follow below information.
1. Please check Error and Warning message in Event Viewer before you start the test case and after you complete the test case, and report it to your team lead, then arrange to open defect, if needed.

2. Perform All Test in Battery Mode (Some of the test items need to perform in AC Mode, follow each Test Case).

3. All Test Activity should be performed with AMT Enabled as Default (applicable on vPro enabled systems).

4. Please check Usability / Cosmetic issues (correct sentence/appropriate display/etc.) and open defect, if needed.



Test all the supported SIM / providers.

Test both 32bit / 64 bit versions unless the test plan specifies the version to test.

Please check the version of Access Connection to be used for each product. Access Connection may require specific version of device driver to be installed for the adapters to be tested.

Access Connections applications may have other functions/GUI not mentioned in this test case. Please verify all the available functions and GUI that comes with the supported version of Access Connections. Any updation required to the test case, Please inform Yamato Lenovo Engineer.

If any country specific scenerio is needed but not mentioned in the test case, inform Lenovo Engineer for test case update.

Known Limitations

1. For AT&T, Win 7 UI profile is displayed as "Unknown" after connecting in Access Connections in AT&T network intermittenly, this is permanent limitation

2. Using AT&T LTE SIM cards provisioned with phone phone numbers, MSISDN information is not displayed in Access Connections. Only N/A is shown. This is permanent limitation

3. Tower icon on AC GUI displays the Provider Name twice with Swisscom and NTT Docomo SIM.

4. SIM PIN Window not prompting when switching to Mobile Broadband tab

10. Sprint Service Provider link is greyed out in AC.

11. APN support is not available with Intel Sierra EM7345 without Access Connections installed.

Windows 7 native user interface do not have APN information and do not have function to set profile automatically. For the other module [Ericsson] case, the module supplier provides APN list which is saved in NV of module but that is NOT a mandatory because Lenovo AccessConnections provides APN list and profile creation function.For this Intel/Sierra module case, neither Windows native nor WAN module do not provide APN list so it is as designed the user need to type APN information.

12. SIM PIN can"t be removed when not connected to Ericsson WAN Profile.

Restrictions

1. "Find Again" for Gobi has been enabled just for the Poland customer. This is Gobi design right from beginning and we can say this is WAD.
Reference defects:
ECR110409, FT All: No "Find Again" button in Mobile Broadband Tab.
ECR110252, FT All: No "Find Again" button in Mobile Broadband Tab.

2. Even though user change PIN security on the fly, it cannot be immediately disconnect on the spot soon. It will be disconnected after a while. Because user change PIN security to disable, AC will remove the previous profile and try to create the new one with the information which can be read from SIM. This is working as design and this design never changed from long back. - Radio will be automatically turn off 3 minutes after no connection.
Reference defect: ECR110402, FT:W7:Profile disappear after disabling PIN while connected w/ Gobi3k.

3. Tester is using SIM which supports to connect "mobileoffice3G". As you know Orange Switzerland has two profiles "Orange CH-postpay" and "Orange CH-Pre Pay" so if user uses Prepay sim and use postpaid profile then connection will not work and vice versa. This is WAD (Working As Designed).

4. Only limited to 70 characters in SMS when double byte characters were entered. (such as Japanese, Korean, Chinese characters)

5. Germany support is dropped since LMBA 4.0

6. LMBA supports the following carriers

5. T-Mobile Carrier to support on LMBA 4.3 for X & T series with Gobi 3000 WWAN.

- LMBA will add new carrier which named "T-Mobile" under country US which will only affect in Win7 system. The T-Mobile carrier has 2 activation choices: Internet and call.

6. Sprint "Over the Internet" option was removed from LMBA version 4.4.1005

Tools/Applications for GPS TEST using GPS Port adapters
ERICSSON / GOBI 3000 / GOBI 4000
For Satellite Fix
Note: This should be tested under bright clear sky.

1. Unzip the NMEA Monitor.zip package.
2. Under NMEA folder, double click NMEA.exe
3. If Error prompts, cannot open serial port #, click OK
4. Option settings will auto launch, and choose correct GPS port # under Serial Port.
5. Click OK.
6. Observe NMEA GUI, until it gets Satellite fix (red circles, black bars)

For GPS Navigation
1. Download application Google Maps with GPS Tracker from internet.

If you find any Navigation application from web, it may also be used. Also inform YMT NW team if you will use any such reliable application to be able to add in this test case.


OOBE Scenario

3. Click Next.
4. Type a Username and Computer name (optional, default one is already given)
5. Click Next.
6. Set Password for your account (optional).
7. Click Next
8. Check the two (2) checkbox options "I accept the license terms".
9. Click Next
10. Choose "Use recommended settings" in Help protect your computer and improve Windows automatically window.
11. Set correct Time zone, Date and Time.
12. Click Next.
13. Join a wireless network, click available wireless profile
14. Wireless profile will ask for Security key if needed. Enter incorrect Security key.
15. Click Next.
16. Connection attempt failed will show.
17. Enter correct Security key, then click Next.
18. Select your computer"s current location will show. Choose any from Home, Work or Public networks.
19. Windows will finalize setup and will prepare now the desktop.
20. If wireless profile is not broadcasted, click Connect to a hidden wireless network.
21. Enter information for the hidden wireless network by filling up Network name and choosing the correct Security and Encryption type.
22. Click OK.
23. Wireless profile will ask for Security key if needed. Enter incorrect Security key.
24. Click Next.
25. Connection attempt failed will show.
26. Enter correct Security key, then click Next.
27. Select your computer"s current location will show. Choose any from Home, Work or Public networks.
28. Windows will finalize setup and will prepare now the desktop.
  • Should be no error messages during OOBE
  • Should be no system hang up, bluescreen and other unnecessary error messages after connecting to available networks.
  • Confirm the successful sign up and connectivity.

Connections.
2. The AC WAN profile will Fail to connect.
3. Click on "Help me Fix...". The following message should appear in Diagnostics window.
"Unable to connect to network at this time due to out of coverage or sign-up period is expired. Please contact your service operator or click on "Repair" button for sign-up"
4. When click on Repair button it should launch LMBA for SIM activation.

Scenario 3:
With already "Activated" SIM inserted in the system.

Activation Process For AT&T (USA)
1. Move to a location where AT&T carrier signals are available.
2. Insert AT&T SIM in the system and boot to OS.
3. Launch Lenovo Mobile Broadband Connect and Goto Welcome tab.
4. Click On Sign up button. In the Sign up button click Activate Now.
5. AT&T"s Wireless Network Activation wizard will be launched.
6. In AT&T Service Activation for Integrated Notebooks select "Personal Use" and click Continue.
7. Select "Add service to a new account" and enter the zip code of the location. Click Continue.
9. In "Choose a Data Plan" click Add to cart.
10.Check the Plan details and click "Checkout"
11.Enter the personal and contact details and click Continue.
12.Enter billing Info and credit card details , Select "Send an invoice for the charges, enter your email address, select "Add these charges to my monthly bill" and check the credit card details and click Continue.
13.Check the option to accept the service agreement and enter supplemental email addresses, click Continue.
14.User should receive the Activation message.

Activation Process For T-Mobile (USA, Gobi 3000 WWAN Only)

1. On Welcome tab, select US country and T-Mobile service provider.
2. Check T-Mobile welcome page if shows correct information (eg. Logo, etc.)
3. When user clicks Start Activation button, LMBA will turn to the activation choice page.
4. T-Mobile carrier has two (2) activation choices:
Over the Internet
Call to activate
5. When user selects "Over the Internet" > click Next button:
5.1 LMBA will turn to the internet activation page.
5.2 Confirm the Logo, Link and Table shows correct information.
5.3 ICCID and IMSI information will show value "Not Available" if T-Mobile SIM is not attached.
6. When user selects "Call to activate" > click Next button:
6.1 LMBA will turn to the internet activation page.
6.2 Confirm the Telephone Number, Logo, Link and Table shows correct information.
6.3 ICCID and IMSI information will show value "Not Available" if T-Mobile SIM is not attached.
7. After completing the activation process, the user is given a choice of Connection Managers to use in order to connect to the activated provider. Confirm T-Mobile OTA was successfully activated without errors.

    LMBA Desktop Icon
    In Windows XP, install LMBA and notive that a generic Mobile Broadband icon will be available at the desktop. This icon should change dynamically according to the following:
    1) As soon as LMBA is able to determine the actual carrier then the generic Mobile Broadband icon on the desktop will be changed to that of the carrier detected.

    2) If the SIM is not yet activated , the Mobile Broadband desktop icon will launch the Lenovo Mobile Broadband Connect software (LMBA) welcome page

    3) If the SIM is Activated, the Mobile Broadband desktop icon will launch the Access Connections software (AC) main page if Access Connections is installed.


    Note: Windows 7 does not show the icon on the desktop per the Win7 UI spec. Because of this the LMBA version for Win7 will not place the Mobile Broadband icon on the desktop.

This is working as design and this design never changed from long back. - Radio will be automatically turn off 3 minutes after no connection.

    2. Launch Sensor Diagnostic tool, Select Sierra Wireless GNSS Sensor EM734x-Lenovo under sensor and wait for the state to change from Initializing to Ready.
    3. Under Location Tab, Select LatLong, Notice Under Data on the right Latitude and Longitude values are displayed.

    1. Download the latest Java update on the test system.
    2. Install setup.exe from System_Trace_Tool_R13.52.0100 folder.
    3. Open device manager -->Ports, Note down the Sierra Wireless EM7345 AT Port (COM X) and Sierra Wireless EM7345 Trace Port (COM Y).
    4. If the above ports are not available, run EM7345_Expose_AT_Port.exe to show ports.
    5. Open STT application, Launch file --> configuration --> connection.
    6. EM7345 Trace Port should be selected for Trace channel
    7. EM7345 AT Port should be selected Communication channel
