DETAILS
ATTENTION!! Please follow below information.
1. Please check Error and Warning message in Event Viewer before you start the test case and after you complete the test case, and report it to your team lead, then arrange to open defect, if needed.

2. Perform All Test in Battery Mode (Some of the test items need to perform in AC Mode, follow each Test Case).

3. All Test Activity should be performed with AMT Enabled as Default (applicable on vPro enabled systems).

4. Please check Usability / Cosmetic issues (correct sentence/appropriate display/etc.) and open defect, if needed.

Note :
  1. Verify all the supported adapters (Wireless, Modem, Network and WWAN devices).
  2. Configure atleast one printer to verify the printer selection while creating the profile.
  3. Read the build letter of Wireless driver and Access Connection and follow the steps for proper working.
Access Connections applications may have other functions/GUI not mentioned in this test case. Please verify all the available functions and GUI that comes with the particular version of Access Connections. Any updation required to the test case, Please inform Lenovo Engineer.

  • Launch Access Connection from Start->Programs->ThinkVantage->Access Connections

    3. Save the profiles and confirm that the profiles are created and can be applied.

  • Install Access Connection after profile creation in the earlier step.
  • Confirm to proceed installation

  • Launch Access Connection from Start->Programs->ThinkVantage->Access Connections

    1. Boot system to OS
    2. Perform upgrade installation using latest Access Connections driver as per build letter.
    3. Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
    4. Check if there are two entries of Access connections after installation

  • Install Access Connections.
    1. Insert SIM Card
    2. Create several location profiles.
    3. Send and Receives SMS Messages
    4. Uninstall Access Connections from Add/Remove programs
    5. In Windows 7, a window will prompt "Do you want to keep the Access Connections profiles and SMS messages/phone book?". Click "Yes".
    6. Confirm to proceed uninstallation
    7. Verify that the application is uninstalled properly
    8. Restart the system
    9. Install Access Connections again
    10. Launch Access Connections from Start->Programs->ThinkVantage->Access Connections
    11. Confirm that the application launches properly and ALL the profiles created earlier are available.
    12. Launch Advanced-->Tools-->SMS
    13. Confirm AC-SMS Message Box launches
    14. Confirm that ALL SMS Messages sent and received earlier are available
    15. With Idle Test Scenario [UR-03518AP]

    19. From Add/Remove programs, uninstall AC

    5. Install Access Connection again
    6. Launch Access Connection from Start->Programs->ThinkVantage->Access Connections
    7. Confirm that the application launches properly and NO profiles are available.

    2. Please note that AC and Wireless driver dependency may be there and we may have to install the specific version of Access Connection and Wireless driver to work properly and also the sequence of installation is important.
    • Access Connection should be installed in silent mode without any problem.

    GUI CHECKING AFTER INSTALLATION [UR-03162AP]1. Launch Access Connection and go to Advanced view mode
    2. Go to Global settings in Tools tab and uncheck the Disable Peer to Peer community feature option.

    Connecting Access Connection to W8 Mobile Hotspot [UR-03621AP]
    Note: Host Configuration ( Windows 8 )
    Prepare Windows 8 machine with latest Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Settings Dependency Package.
    Connect to the Internet.
    Open Lenovo Settings and go to Mobile Hotspot tab.
    Input desired SSID and Password.
    Press Start Broadcast.
    Criteria
    Win 7
    Admin Mode / User mode (Standard / Restricted)
    1.Install latest wireless drivers as per build letter (Intel,Broadcom,Realtek)
    2.Install Latest Access Connection
    3.Restart the system
    4.Launch Access Connection
    5.Go to Connect to the Internet tab
    6.Click find button in the lower right side of the tab
    7.Connect to the prepared Mobile Hotspot SSID
    8.Input password and check if it will connect successfully.
    9.Check if the mac address that the mobile hotspot displayed is the same with the test machine.
    10.Open Command Prompt and type "ping www.google.com -t" or any other websites.
    11.Repeat 5 times.
    • Access Connection profile should be successfully created.
    • Access Connection should successfully connected to Windows 8 Mobile Hotspot.
    • Access Connection should not be disconnected to the mobile hotspot.
    • Test machine should successfully ping the website.

    IT Administrator tool (Verify this function for all profiles)

    1. From the profile distribution menu, Click the Create Distribution package.
    2. Select the profiles from the list to create the distribution package.
    3. In the User Access Policy, Select the desired option.
    4. Click the create button
    5. You will be prompted for Passphrase. Enter the passpharase.
    6. Save the file (it will be saved as .loa file)
    7. Now Go to Tools-->Location Switching --> The profiles used for distribution package should be present.
    8. Import the same package again in the same system. "Override profile message" should pop up.
    9. Copy this .loa file to another client system
    10. In the client system, from Access Connection->Import Location profiles, import the latest saved .loa profile. (you will be prompted to enter the passphrase again, Enter the wrong passphrase.
    11. Profile should not be imported with the wrong passphrase.
    12. Again import the profile with correct passphrase.
    13. Confirm that the profile is imported properly.
    14. Apply the imported profile.
    15. Verify this function by changing all the available User Access Policies in Step.
    • Profile distribution package should be able to create
    • Import the profile in client system successfully
    • For wrong passphrase, profile should not be imported.
    • Applied imported profile should work fine without any problem.
    • In the client system, user access policy mentioned in Step.2 should be applied.

  • From the profile distribution menu, Click the Create Distribution package.
    1. Select the profiles from the list to create the distribution package.
    2. In the User Access Policy, Select the desired option.
    3. Click the create button
    4. You will be prompted for Passphrase. Do not enter any passpharase.

    6. Copy this .loa file to another client system
    7. In the client system, from Access Connection->Import Location profiles, import the latest saved .loa profile. .
    8. Confirm that the profile is imported properly.
    9. Apply the imported profile
    10. Verify this function by changing all the available User Access Policies in Step.2

  • From the profile distribution menu, Click the Create Distribution package.
  • Select the profiles from the list to create the distribution package.
  • In the User Access Policy, Select the desired option.
  • Click the create button
  • You will be prompted for Passphrase. Do not enter any passpharase.
  • Save the file (it will be saved as .loa file)
  • In Location Switching, verify if the profiles included in the distribution package is still present in Location Switching.
  • Import Location profiles, import the saved .loa profile.
  • Confirm that the original profile has suffix (1) and the imported profile has no suffix.
  • In Location Switching, verify if the original profile and imported profile are both present.
  • Apply the imported profile.
  • Verify this function by changing all the available User Access Policies in Step.2Reference

    1. From the profile distribution menu, Click the Edit Distribution package.
    2. select the profiles from the list to Edit the distribution package.
    3. Select the profile that needs to be modified and you will be prompted for passphrase.
    4. Modify the properties and save this profile.
    5. Copy the modified .loa file to another client system
    6. In the client system, from Access Connection->Import Location profiles, import the latest saved .loa profile. .
    7. Confirm that the profile is imported properly.
    8. Apply the imported profile
    • Profile distribution package should be able to modify
    • Import the modified profile in client system successfully
    • Applied imported profile should work fine without any problem.
    • Access Policy modified should be applied correctly.

    Export/Import Etherent Profile using Distribution Package
    1. From the profile distribution menu, Click the Create Distribution package.
