ATTENTION!! Please follow below information.
1. Please check Error and Warning message in Event Viewer before you start the test case and after you complete the test case, and report it to your team lead, then arrange to open defect, if needed.

2. Perform All Test in Battery Mode (Some of the test items need to perform in AC Mode, follow each Test Case).

3. All Test Activity should be performed with AMT Enabled as Default (applicable on vPro enabled systems).

4. Please check Usability / Cosmetic issues (correct sentence/appropriate display/etc.) and open defect, if needed.

Restriction

1. By design, the BIOS disables AMT if non-vPro WLAN (Realtek or Marble Peak) card is detected. This is because Intel does not support AMT on non-vPro system.

2. The Intel MEBx will show menus based on platform capabilities. These MEBx menus are seen on systems that have had Intel vPro Technology downgraded. This vPro downgrade happens on systems which have non-vPro WLAN cards. vPro will downgrade to SMB if Sandy Bridge is used on Chief River, or non vPro wireless card is used on Chief River.

3. Activate Network Access will automatically change the ME Power Policy from Mobile:ON is S0 to Mobile:ON in S0, ME Wake in S3,S4-5(AC only)

Information

1. To enter the Intel MEBX, press <Ctrl-P> as soon as possible, since this message is displayed for only a few seconds. Also note that the OEM may replace the control character <Ctrl-P> with another one or don?t display it at all.

<Ctrl-P> will be hidden when SoL or KVM session is established. Users are not able to access MEBx UI in this scenario.

If Intel? AMT has been configured, <CTLR-ALT-F1> will also be displayed along with <CTRL-P>. It is designed for end users to use Fast call for Help feature either inside or outside of corporate network environment when Intel? AMT systems are not discovered by management console.

2. MEBx screen bilnks once when change any option after login.

1. On the Intel AMT machine, press Ctrp-P or press ENTER during POST to get the Ctrl + P option at the device boot and Press 1 to enter ME configuration screens.

2. Select MEBx Login and enter the password.

(On newly deployed devices, the password is ?admin?, and user are required to set up new password for MEBx. In this test, we use ?iAMT-8.0? as the password)

3. After entering MEBx password, the MEBx Login option should not be displayed.

  • Confirm all MEBx screen have no garbage display.
  • Check if Intel ME BIOS Extension version and Intel ME version are displayed correctly.
  • Check if ?MEBx Login?, ?Intel(R) ME General Settings?, ?Intel(R) AMT Configuration? and ?MEBx Exit? menus are presented.
Note: Intel MEBX will display only detected options. If one or more of these options does not appear, verify that the system supports the relevant missing feature.

  • Check if after first time login, users are asked to change the password immediately.

Intel(R) ME General Settings

1. Enter Intel(R) ME General Settings, make sure Change ME Password, Local FW Update and Power Control are presented.

  • MEBx password can be reset to the default setting (admin) by shutting down the system, removing AC & DC power and performing a RTC reset. Or Disable AMT in BIOS reboot system and enable again.

    .

  • Check if Local FW update menu has 3 options: Disabled, Enabled and Password Protected.
  • Check if Power control has 2 options: Intel(R) ME ON in Host Sleep States and Idle Timeout.
  • Check if Intel(R) ME ON in Host Sleep States has two options: Mobile:ON is S0 (default) and Mobile: ON in S0, ME Wake in S3, S4-5 (AC only).

  • Check if Idle Timeout is presented in Power Control menu. Check if timeout value can be changed.

    Note: The value should be entered in minutes. The value indicates the amount of time that the Intel ME is allowed remain idle in M3 before transitioning to the M-off state. If the Intel ME is in M0, it will NOT transition to M-OFF.

Intel(R) AMT Configuration

1. Enter AMT configuration, make sure the below screen is presented.

  • Check if Manageability Feature can be Enabled and Disabled.
Note: When Hide FW Update Control setting in FITC is set, MEBx will hide Local FW Update option.

  • Password Policy menu has three options: Default Password Only, During Setup And Configuration,,and Anytime.

    Note: This option determines when the user is allowed to change the Intel MEBX password through the network.

1. Enter Intel(R) AMT Configuration -> SOL/IDER/KVM, make sure the below screen is presented.

  • Check if in SOL/IDER/KVM option, there are 5 options: Username and Password, SOL, IDER, KVM Feature Selection and Legacy Redirection Mode.

  • Check if Legacy Redirection Mode is Disabled by default.

  • Check if User Opt-in and Opt-in Configurable from Remote IT options are listed
  • Check if User Opt-in has 3 options: NONE, KVM and ALL
  • Check if Opt-in Configurable from Remote IT can be enabled and disabled.

Network Setup

1. Enter Intel(R) AMT Configuration -> Network Setup, make sure the below screen is presented.

2. Enter Intel(R) ME Network Name Settings

3. Enter TCP/IP Settings -> Wired LAN IPV4 Configuration

4. Disable DHCP Mode

  • Check if Intel(R) ME Network Name Settings and TCP/IP Settings are presented.

  • Check if Intel(R) ME Network Name Settings has 4 items: Host Name, Domain Name, Shared/Dedicated FQDN and Dynamics DNS Update.

  • Check if TCP/IP Settings has only one menu: Wired LAN IPV4 Configuration.

Note: Wireless Settings and IPV6 Settings were removed from MEBx due to an RCR to minimize the UI there for ME 8. These features are brought over into HBC (Host Based Configuration) support and deemed redundant for the local configuration. The RCR did not extend the same changes to the OOB WebUI support model.

  • Check if in TCP/IP Settings, DHCP Mode can be enabled and disabled.

  • Check if when DHCP is disabled, IPV4 Address, Subnet Mask Address, Default Gateway Address, Preferred DNS Address and Alternate DNS Address options are displayed and can be configured.

    Note: This IP address, often called the Intel ME IP address has to be different than host IP address.

1. Select ?Activate Network Access?.

2. Press Enter.

3. Press ?Y? to activate or press ?N? to cancel

  • Check if Power policy is change to PP2 after activating if the default power policy is set to PP1.

  • Check if Full Unprovision and Partial Unprovision options are available for Unconfigure Network Access when Network Access is activated.

  • Check if the CAUTION screen after pressing Enter. Check if Y and N button is working properly (Y is to unconfigure, N is to exit without saving).

In Sharkbay "Remote Setup and Configuration" menu has been disabled. But in Broadwell, due to RCR CCG0100010625, "Remote Setup and Configuration" menu has been re-added, resulting to some selected settings (shown below) to be displayed for WLAN-only designs.
