DETAILS
ATTENTION!! Please follow below information.
1. Please check Error and Warning message in Event Viewer before you start the test case and after you complete the test case, and report it to your team lead, then arrange to open defect, if needed.

2. Perform All Test in Battery Mode (Some of the test items need to perform in AC Mode, follow each Test Case).

3. All Test Activity should be performed with AMT Enabled as Default (applicable on vPro enabled systems).

4. Please check Usability / Cosmetic issues (correct sentence/appropriate display/etc.) and open defect, if needed.

Network Range Connection test

Note: This should be tested in different network modes: a / b / g / n / ac

Perform the test within the following network range given.

Perform the test with obstacles.(example: walls, floors etc.)

Beside the Access Point.

Trial 1 :No obstacle

1. Connect to Access Point.

2. Confirm network functionality

3. Open the command prompt and ping towww.google.com

4. Open Internet Explorer and go towww.speedtest.netandCheck the speed and throughput of the WLAN.

5. Go towww.youtube.comand browse for videos.

6. Idle the system for 3-5 minutes.

Trial 2 :With Obstacle

Set-up

Access point and client PC should be separated by a wall in between them.

1. Connect to Access Point.

2. Confirm network functionality

3. Open the command prompt and ping towww.google.com

4. Open Internet Explorer and go towww.speedtest.netandCheck the speed and throughput of the WLAN.

5. Go towww.youtube.comand browse for videos.

6. Idle the system for 3-5 minutes.

Trial 3 :With 2 obstacles

Set-up

Access point and client PC should be separated by a wall in between them.

1. Connect to Access Point.

2. Confirm network functionality.

3. Open the command prompt and ping towww.google.com

4. Open Internet Explorer and go towww.speedtest.netandCheck the speed and throughput of the WLAN.

5. Go towww.youtube.comand browse for videos.

6. Idle the system for 3-5 minutes.

Note: This is supported on all Radio Modes (a,b,g and n)

- Confirm that WLAN can connect successfully

- Confirm that WLAN connection is not dropped with our without obstacle

- Confirm that browsing and network activity can be successfully done.

- Confirm that network icon signal status has full bars

This scenario can also be tested using NetworkAdapterSpeedtest ATS Script and parallel YouTube playback in web browser.

- Confirm that WLAN can connect successfully

- Confirm that WLAN connection is not dropped with or without obstacle

- Confirm that browsing and network activity can be successfully done.

- Confirm that network icon signal status has full bars.

- Confirm that WLAN can connect successfully

- Confirm that WLAN connection is not dropped with or without obstacle

A

VPN connectivity

1. Connect to public network like ADSL

2. Configure VPN network and connect to your office Network through VPN [OS native / Cisco Any connect]

3. Access all the office DBs / mail and confirm that connectivity is smooth and reliable

- Confirm VPN connectivity with all supported PM scenarios.

Expected Result: System should connect to VPN network without any problems.

>> Following test needs to be done in the office network environment with same APs but different locations.

>> No performance degradation in functionality / easy connectivity

Roaming Feature - Same Channel

Configure Access Point A with Channel 10 settings.

Configure Access Point B with Channel 10 settings.

Case : 1

- Confirm the wireless connection functionality by connecting to Access Point A

- Take the system away from the Access Point A.

Note: The signal strength of Access Point should be No signal/poor.

Take the system towards Access Point B.

Now system should automatically connect to the Access point B.

Confirm the network function

Case : 2

- Confirm the wireless connection functionality by connecting to Access Point A

- Suspend the system and take the system away from the Access Point A.

Take the system towards Access Point B and resume from suspend

Now system should automatically connect to the Access point B.

Confirm the network function

Expected Result: System should connect to Network through the second Access point

Roaming Feature - Different Channel

Configure Access Point A with Channel 10 settings.

Configure Access Point B with Channel 12, 13 or 14 settings.

Case : 1

- Confirm the wireless connection functionality by connecting to Access Point A

- Take the system away from the Access Point A.

Note: The signal strength of Access Point should be No signal/poor.

Take the system towards Access Point B.

Now system should automatically connect to the Access point B.

Confirm the network function

Case : 2

- Confirm the wireless connection functionality by connecting to Access

Point A

- Suspend the system and take the system away from the Access Point A.

Take the system towards Access Point B and resume from suspend

Now system should automatically connect to the Access point B.

Confirm the network function

Expected Result: System should connect to Network through the second Access point

Roaming Feature - Out of Signal

- Configure to connect to Access Point A

- Confirm the wireless connection functionality

- Take the system away and go near to the other access point B.

Note: The signal strength of Access Point should be No signal/poor.

Now system should automatically connect to the Access point B.

Confirm the network function

Expected Result: System should connect to Network through the second Access point

Roaming Feature - Same Access Point

- Configure Two access points with same SSID (IBM),same encryption settings.

- Keep the two access points totally in different places

- Confirm the wireless connection functionality.

- Connect to Access Point in one location and check the functionality.

- Take the system away and go near to the other access point.

Now system should automatically connect to the other Access Point.

Confirm the network function

Again comeback to the first Access Point.

Confirm the network function.

Expected Result: System should connect to Network through the second Access point

Roaming Feature - Suspend/Resume

- Connect to Access point A

- Check for the wireless connection

- Note the signal strength and quality

- Suspend the system

- Take the system and move away from Access point and go near to the Access point B

Resume from Suspend

Now system should automatically connect to the Access point B.

Once again confirm the network function

Expected Result: System should connect to Network through the second Access point

Roaming Feature - Hibernate/Resume

- Connect to Access point A

- Check for the wireless connection

- Note the signal strength and quality

- Hibernate the system

- Take the system and move away from Access point and go near to the Access point B

Resume from Hibernation

Now system should automatically connect to the Access point B.

Once again confirm the network function

Expected Result: System should connect to Network through the second Access point

A

Idling Test

- Connect to any APs to connect to internet or office network

- Open mail or other web page (without any download or media play)

- Leave the system idle for minimum 60 minutes

- Resume after 60 mins.

Criteria : No wireless disconnection or performance degradation on resuming from Idle condition.

Repeat the above for

- 2 hours

- 4 hours.

- Connect to any APs to connect to internet or office network

- Open mail or other web page (Download big files / play 2 hours video file)

- Leave the system idle for minimum 60 minutes

- Resume after 60 mins.

Criteria : No wireless disconnection or performance degradation on resuming from Idle condition.

Repeat the above for

- 2 hours

- 4 hours.

. Configure two access points with same network name.
